after an ep on creme organization off-shoot jericho one as dj plant texture, dona basile now assumes his dona alias for a new ep on the main label. entitled the v.g.p sessions, it features four new cuts from the italian, with three of them being dj pt mixes. up first is a live cut version of energia , a bristling electro track with globular bass and coarse hits. turbulent but full of synth based serenity, it is a fine start. cigarettes (djpt mix) is rugged and broken, with glossy idm synths and corrugated drums all loosely arranged into something prickly and unsettling. the deads at twelve (djpt mix) then gets even more fucked up, with rusty synths and blown out drums making for a dystopian house groove that will likely soundtrack the apocalypse. last but not least, nr. 13 (djpt mix) mixes up detroit synths, wild acid, heavenly chords and chopped up, buried deep vocal samples into something that will fire every synapse in your body. this is outlier stuff from dona that sounds like little else.

klamauk is back and ready to drop their first release of 2017 with this excellent cut from moony me. the austrian artist has already turned heads with a string of quality records dropping since 2012 and this current release is up to his usual high standards channelling deep, sample driven house vibes. the ep opens with “city of storms”, a knowing nod to soulful chicago and a lovely iron curtis rework that seriously does the business. over on the flip we have “puzzle shuffle” which packs lots of energy with the main hook, and will surely be a hit on the dancefloor. for “glass jungle chant” moony me uses a lighter touch with intricate live percussion, lovely chords and a squelchy sub bass.

banlieue records starts the year 2017 with the release of blasphema eternal, the imprints sixth record, which will in fact be the only va release of the year as the label will focus on artist eps. it features five very different cuts that somehow fit perfectly together under banlieues common thread: a timeless feel, tracks that are full of detail but often understated, a breath of fresh air ready to lift up bodies and minds on the dance floor and anywhere else. first comes a club-ready dubbed out track by duo nummer, then a rather ambient tune reminiscent of idms finest moments by michigans own dmarc cantu. on the flipside, a machine funk track of an electro persuasion by label boss benoit b, followed by uptempo dance floor abstraction by mir and some lo-fi jackbeat deepness courtesy of wulffius featuring lyrics in french by jack tezam. limited to 300 vinyl copies.

florian meindl kick starts 2017 with a special four-track vinyl only release ‘colorful cage’. released on his own imprint flash recordings, the title track is taken from his forthcoming album ‘time illusion’. there is an exclusive vinyl edit of florian’s previously released foreboding techno track ‘nix charon’ and completing the ep are two further unique tracks ‘controlled pressure’ and ‘wild sequence 3’. as a dj, live performer, studio producer and sound designer, florian has over the years established an impressive producing base for himself in his berlin based riverside studio complex with an exciting hardware set up including modular systems, an analog mixing desk as well as classic machines like roland 909. in anticipation for the lp release in early april, florian has prepared a unique live set featuring a modular system, the korg minilogue, effect boxes and a 909 drum machine which were used in the creation of the album which he will be touring throughout 2017.
